The Battat Take A Part Airplane has become a favorite of Michael's over the last couple of weeks.
Just when he seems to have lost interest in it he'll pick it back up and begin taking it apart again.
When I first got it for him he loved it, partly because it comes with its very own toy power tool that looks and functions like a real one. The toy screwdriver alone makes it a great toy.
The plane itself is bigger than you might think, is very sturdy, and comes in bright colors.
There are quite a few pieces that make up the actual airplane including the wings(2 pieces), the landing gear(2 pieces), the body(2 pieces), the propeller(2 pieces), and the cockpit.
Each piece fits together with a plastic screw that can be tightened or loosened with the toy screwdriver.
The toy screwdriver comes with three bits and a switch that enables you to change the direction of the rotation.
This really is a fun toy that Michael has enjoyed and will probably continue to use for a long time. It's fairly easy to take apart and put back together. Sometimes he does need a little help from me, but for the most part he is able to do it on his own.
The one drawback is that like real screws, you must first get them started or loosened before the toy screwdriver can unscrew it all the way. It obviously doesn't have enough power or torque to get the screw started if it's been tightened.
